Making the squiggly spider!

I have used Black in the featured project, though, this can be any color of choice. The pictures show a red spider to show the stitches properly, and black yarn to highlight where the legs need to be knotted in. I have used a very simple crochet + knots spider

ree

Start with a Magic Circle and ch2 (doesn’t count as a stitch)

·       The Body of the Spider: make 11 hdc into the magic circle, join to the first one with a slip stitch and pull the magic circle closed.

DO NOT CUT yarn.

ree

·

The Head of the Spider: chain 2, make 8 sc in the 2nd chain from the hook; slip stitch to the first sc to join. Slip stitch back into the same hdc as we started (on the body). Fasten off and weave in the ends. This makes the head sit on top of the body.

ree

·

The legs of the spider: Take 4 pieces of yarn of about 3-4” long. Thread the yarn through the hdc stitches of the body as shown.

ree

Turn over and tie the 2 ends with a double knot to fasten it to the body. Trim the ‘legs’ to suitable length and tug them about to suitable look like a scrambling spider!
