INSTRUCTIONS to make the Bat Quarters Coaster!
SKILL Level – Easy/Intermediate
About Pattern: This is a simple No Sew Pattern to make a coaster with a Bat Motif. The pattern is designed in a way to resemble quarters of a frame! A quick and easy pattern best to utilize the leftover yarn from your Halloween makes!
COMPLETED SIZE: approximately 4.2” square Coaster. If yarn used is thicker/thinner, the size may vary.
Materials:
● Yarn - Light DK/ Sport weight – Cotton/Cotton mix; Here I have used Urshii Crochet Thread Yarn. Total Yardage: 88 - 98 yards for 50g.
● Yarn carried over behind: approximately 20 yards of Main color (COLOR 1) and 12 yards of Contrast colored yarn (COLOR 2) respectively.
● Yardage mentioned is for carrying yarn across the back. (TIP on next page). You will need less yards of COLOR 2 if you cut the yarn instead of carrying it through.
● Crochet hook – use a hook about a size or two smaller than suggested hook.
I HAVE USED: 3 mm hook for the project featured in the picture.
● Stitch Markers, scissors and a needle to finish up.
Gauge: 25 stitches and 22 rows approximately make a 4*4 inch square.
PLEASE NOTE - According to the gauge/yarn/ hook used, the size and stiffness of the project may vary. Custom instructions, if any, will be highlighted.
TIP: While carrying the yarn, keep the carrying yarn restricted to one side (Wrong Side), this gives you a neat finish and still be pretty much same on both sides
Stitches used: US crochet terms
ch - chain
sc – single crochet
ss – slip stitch
RS – Right Side of the work
WS – Wrong Side of the work
PLEASE NOTE:
• ch1 does not count unless specified otherwise.
• I use the Invisible color change method to switch between colors.

TIP: While carrying the yarn, keep the carrying yarn restricted to one side, this gives you a neat finish and still be pretty much same on both sides.
Using COLOR 1 ch 25
Tip: join the second color at the beginning and carry the unused color through the row (this gives uniformity in thickness of the motif rows and a neater finish.
RS Row 1: sc in the 2nd chain from the hook and down the chain. TURN (24)
