Fall 2023 - inspired this new version of Peek-a-boo Granny! So here's presenting a new coaster pattern by SaiASmi - Dreamz in Yarn!
PEEK-A-FALL GRANNY COASTER - The idea behind this coaster was just the challenge of shaping a Granny stitch into a leaf :D

About the pattern: This is a loose interpretation of a leaf, using a Granny Pentagon as a base. The pattern is started in rounds and then shifts to working in rows (front and back) to shape it.
The colors used in the feature show the coaster in a deep maroon red and a pale shoot green. Clearly shows that the pattern is adaptable to any color scheme. The Peek-a-Fall Granny Coaster is #freeonblog and you can get a FREE Download of the pattern for 24 hours. SCROLL Down for the instructions!

This Pattern was designed for Fall 2023 and was a super fun experience to figure out to get the perfect coaster!
The Pattern Written Instructions are given in this #blogpost below.
For 24 Hours, this pattern can be downloaded for FREE - the link to get the CODE for the that and 'HOW to' will be outlined after the Pattern instructions on this blog!

Materials:
● Yarn of choice - DK weight
I HAVE USED: DK Cotton from Yarnkart for the Coaster featured in the document.
● Crochet hook - preferred hook that works with chosen yarn. I HAVE USED: 3.5mm
● Stitch Markers (Optional), scissors and a needle to finish up.

Gauge:
Round 1 of a traditional Granny Square is approximately a 1” square.
Pattern for gauge: Working into a Magic Circle or a ch4 loop
Ch5, (3dc into the loop, ch2) three times, 2dc, slip stitch into the 3rd chain of beginning ch5.
Stitches used: US crochet terms
Magic Circle (Alternatively, ch 4 and slip stitch into the first chain to form a loop.
ch - chain
sc – single crochet
yo – yarn over
dc – double crochet
ss – Slip Stitch
2sc – make 3 single crochets in the same stitch
2dc/3dc – make 3 double crochets in the same stitch.
RS – Right Side of work
WS – Wrong Side of work
picot – chain 3, slip stitch into the two spokes of the base stitch OR into the 3rd chain from hook (whichever is easier)
PLEASE NOTE:
· Ch1 doesn’t count as a stitch when we Turn and work the rounds/rows.
· Ch3 counts as dc.
· The coaster is worked Right side only when working the rounds 1-4 and TURN the work as required for the rows that follow. RS and WS will be mentioned to indicate which side of the project you will work on, after TURN.
Optionally, you can join yarn to avoid slip stitches. This is completely the makers prerogative.
PART 1- The Base/ Center of the Coaster

LET’S START!!!
Ch4 and slip stitch to form a ring / Magic Circle: whichever you prefer.
Round 1: ch3, dc, (ch2, 3dc) * 4 times, ch2, dc and join to top of ch3.
(5 3dc groups)
Round 2: ch1, sc in each stitch and (sc, ch2, sc) in each space around and join to first sc.
(25sc and 5 ch2 spaces)
This is the center of the coaster and is a basic pentagon shape here!
This ROUND expands the pentagon shape with ONE solid Granny Stitch and the remaining Peek-a-Boo version of the stitch!

Round 3: ch5(counts as dc+ch2), skip the next 2 stitches. In the ch2 space make (dc, ch3, 3dc)
Skip the next 2 stitches and 3 dc in next stitch, skip 2 stitches, and in next chain space make (3dc, ch3, dc),
[ch2, skip 2 stitches, dc, ch2, skip 2 stitches, in next chain space make (dc, ch4, dc)]* 3 TIMES,
Ch2, skip 2 stitches and join to the top of the beginning ch3
(21 dc and 13 chain spaces in all)
This ROUND adds a base of single crochet to the pentagon shape which will be used to shape the leaf from here on!

Round 4: Working in the stitches and following chain spaces respectively, make sc, 2sc, sc.
In the next chain space make (2sc, ch2, sc), sc in each of the following stitches.
Next chain space (sc, ch2, 2sc)
[Make (sc in each dc and 2sc in chain space) * 2, sc in next stitch,
Next chain space (2sc, ch2, 2sc)] ** Repeat this 3 TIMES
sc in each dc and 2sc in chain space and join to the beginning stitch.
(55 sc and 5 ch2 spaces)
PART 2 - shaping the Coaster.
Now that we have our BASE ready; we will start working in rows to shape it into a leaf

Row 1: (WS) TURN and ch3, dc in same stitch as the join, skip 2 stitches, 3dc in next stitch,
[skip 2 stitches and in chain space make (3dc, ch2, 3dc),
